All Aboard the Bennie Alice!

Cabbage Island, ME, is only accessible by boat. To make your way to the island, you must go aboard the Bennie Alice in Boothbay Harbor. Trips to the island are available seven days a week from the end of June through Labor Day weekend. Once you arrive on the island, you can enjoy a traditional clambake on the water’s edge.

Sailing to and from Boothbay Harbor and Cabbage Island takes about one hour. Remember to wear sunscreen, and drink plenty of water! During the week from Monday through Friday, trips to Cabbage Island depart at 12:30 p.m. and return at Boothbay at 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday trips typically depart and return later in the evening.

What’s on the Menu?

Your tickets to Cabbage Island always include a hearty, home-cooked meal. If you have never experienced a Downeast clambake, then you are in for a treat! Once you arrive on the island, you can look forward to a hearty meal of fish chowder, lobster, potatoes and onion, corn on the cob, and the best blueberry cake in Maine. If you are partial to lobster, then roasted half chickens are also available. For those traveling with children, kids meals may be substituted.

Helpful Information for Your Trip

  • Summer 2019 tickets to Cabbage Island are now available. Because these cruises are popular in the summertime, we recommend reserving your tickets in advance. Save your seats by contacting the Cabbage Island Clambakes’ ticket booth at (207) 633-7200.
  • Comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended. Once you arrive on the island, you’ll find a variety of activities available, including volleyball, horseshoes, and badminton.
  • In preparation of a chance of rain, bring along a rain jacket. Trips to Cabbage Island take place, rain or shine.
